What is Social Media Management?
Just like everything in owning your own business, it’s important that you have a good understanding of what each of your hats/roles are. When you get the chance to learn more about those roles, it helps you as the business owner make educated and informed decisions about what to keep on your plate and what to delegate to others on your team. Social media management is no different from any other part of owning your business.
I am a firm believer that having the right people in place will make you money (be an asset) rather than just cost you money (a monthly expense). And hey, I get it, as a creative myself, I fall victim to the I can do it myself syndrome many times. However, I am learning that getting people to step in and do a job effectively and efficiently will benefit me in the long run.
So that is where this post comes in. If you have been struggling to keep up with the rat race of marketing in a world where there seems to be a new platform every other month, or the one you are using and felt comfortable with has updated yet again, then keep reading my friend. I’m here to help you out.
Over the next month, I’m going to be walking through the parts and pieces of social media management. I’m all about bite size things to make processes easier, so we are gonna break this down. Today, we are just talking about what social media management is, and then later on we will jump deeper into each of its aspects.
Here’s how I like to think of social media management. It’s a process that uses tools that are free to you as a business owner (with a few exceptions). It should not be overwhelming, but it should have structure. You do not have to be everywhere all the time (only God can do that), but you do need to pick a spot-or two- and work on growing there.
Here’s a run down of what we will be looking into this month:
What is your focus? (Monthly focus)
Now, let’s make a plan. (Daily/Weekly plan)
From that plan, we are going to create content. (Content creation)
How to tell your story (Copy)
Catch their attention (Graphics)
Now to be found (SEO)
Sticking with the plan (scheduling)
