Making your Weekly/Daily Social Media Plan

Now that we have our monthly focus, it’s time to sit down and get to work. You know what you want to push each month, but what will you post about each day? I mean, you know that your audience isn’t going to see what you’ve got if you only post it once, right? It’s really a lot easier than you think.

Before we get into the how of planning out your social media posts, let’s first talk about the software choices. There are many different project management softwares out there like Asana, Trello, Monday, etc. This is not a time to learn a new software, so make what you are already using adapt and work for you. You can do this with a board for each day of the week in any of these platforms, and change it up as you need to.

I use Google sheets for my plan. This is not something i can take credit for, but is actually what one of my clients uses to help lay out her plan. I grabbed it and started using it for myself and other clients also.

The first thing you want to do is layout the days of the week. Pick a theme for Monday. It might be an educating day. This would be where you could teach your audience how to use your product, or how to do something you offer as a service. Then move on to Tuesday. It could be something like an entertain day. You’re going to repeat this for each day of the week until every day has a theme. Once this is done, you have 6-7 categories to start working on posts that fall in your monthly focus. If you need to change it up for some reason (and I would suggest doing that later on down the road), you can. This is not written in stone, and you are the one in charge, so make it work for you.

Now that you have your categories, start plugging in content ideas for each day. This will allow you to start thinking of ways to show the benefits of your product or service. It will start to spur the creativity in you to engage with your audience. YOu can tell stories, give advice, encourage, entertain, and inform without having to do it on the fly.

This part of the process is somewhat tedious, but if you set aside 30-45 minutes each month, you’ll get to where you can knock this out and have your plan ready to go before it’s time to post.

Coming up next week, we will be talking about Content Creation. This is where you take this plan and put some meat on it. So, be putting your thinking cap on as to what you can share with your audience and we will put it to work.
