How to Make Scroll-Stopping Graphics
So many times when I talk to other business owners, it seems as if creating images and graphics is the hardest part of content creation for them. If you don’t have a background in graphic design, it can be intimidating to come up with the best looking graphics for your business and digital footprint.
Today, we are going to talk about some tips that will help you create scroll-stopping graphics without the headache of taking graphic design classes.
First of all, having your plan in hand will make this a whole lot easier. So if you haven’t followed along with this series, start back at the beginning and walk through how to create a focus and plan. These are super important when you are trying to make graphics an easy part of your social media plan.
Once you’ve got your plan together, I like to use Canva to create my still images and graphics. There are lots of different directions you can go with this, but we are keeping things simple today, so we are going to walk through a single image post.
Tip #1: Make it BOLD!
We all know that trying to tell our audience about something is not a one time thing. We must be in their face (in a nice way, of course), but if we aren’t putting our product or service out there, they aren’t necessarily looking for it. We have to make our 1 thing big and bold and in their face. With a still image graphic we aren’t trying to tell them all the things that they will get from our product, but instead we want to focus on one feature or benefit. Just like the image above, you can see exactly what my tips are without reading all the words. Give your audience enough info to entice them to look at your caption and then go to your website for more info.
Tip #2: Keep it SIMPLE!
If you are keeping your message simple, the chances of your audience getting confused remains low. People’s attention is pulled in so many different directions these days, and they don’t have the bandwidth to stay with you for very long. Keep your messaging simple and you’ll keep them engaged much longer.
Tip #3: Stay on BRAND!
I know these days that TikTok and Instagram Reels are what the algorithm is pushing. However, if you aren’t comfortable getting on camera and dancing, don’t feel like you have to do that to get views and likes. There are a lot of people who wish that IG was still the picture app. If you are following what you feel comfortable with, people will respect that and your know, like, and trust factor will go way up. Branding is so much more than your colors and your logo. It’s just as much your voice, delivery, and attitude. When people hear you saying the words that you’ve typed, they are going to believe you even more.
I hope that these tips have helped you let go of the overwhelm that you have with creating graphics and images.
